AWS Seeks a Specialist to Develop Amazon’s ‘Digital Currency and Blockchain Strategy Roadmap

Amazon, one of the “Big Five” tech companies, has been showing interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency solutions for some time. On May 26, 2020, the company patent a protocol for distributing ledger certificates. The e-commerce giant published a job posting in February 2021 for a software developer manager to oversee a blockchain pilot project. This was located in Mexico with Amazon’s Digital and Emerging Payments’ division.

The company’s employment portal stated that it was looking for a blockchain expert to help create business use cases in decentralized finance (defi) this June. It was revealed that Amazon had published an employment advertisement in the following month for its Payments Acceptance & Experience group. Amazon was looking for a product leader who could help develop Amazon’s digital currency, blockchain strategy, and product roadmap.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), is now hiring a “principal digital asset specialist” in New York to head its fintech team. The job posting went live on October 30th and there were 26 applicants at the time this article was written. AWS seeks someone who has seven years or more of experience in fintech business development, and is familiar with distributed ledger or other blockchain technologies.

The AWS digital assets specialist job posting states that you will be working directly with some of our most important customers, including leading global financial institutions and innovative Fintechs. As they change the way they transact digital assets, they will be able to assist the CIOs, CDOs and Line of Business leaders by helping them drive change (ex. The listing description also adds that cryptocurrencies, CBDCs [stablecoins], security tokens, asset tokens and NFTs are available from price discovery through execution, settlement, and custody.

Amazon is not the only company looking for blockchain tech experts or digital currency experts. Many other companies are also searching for this type of talent. Reddit , a social news and discussion site, published this month an advertisement looking for senior engineers to work on a platform that offers ‘NFT-backed Digital Goods.’

Reddit published a job posting. Gamestop, a video gaming retailer giant, posted a similar listing for a senior engineer to support the blockchain NFT platform.
